In just 48 hours after its launch in Brazil, the homegrown microblogging platform Koo App reported receiving over 1 million downloads. By expanding the app's availability to new nations and debuting in other international languages, Twitter rival Koo hopes to further solidify its position on the world stage.
The statement comes as Twitter has been taken over by billionaire Elon Musk, who has fired numerous people and implemented significant changes. In a statement on Monday, Koo stated that 'India's multilingual microblogging platform, Koo App, was launched in Brazil with the inclusion of the Portuguese language, making it available in 11 native languages presently.'
According to Koo, the site garnered a 'tremendous response' from Brazilian users within 48 hours of its launch, with over 1 million downloads. For the past four days, Koo has held the top rank on both the Apple App Store and the Android Play Store, it continued. According to the statement, 'Koo has recently witnessed 2 million Koos and 10 million likes within 48 hours, by users in Brazil alone.'
Koo is an open platform for language-based self-expression. Aprameya Radhakrishna, CEO and co-founder of Koo, said the support is evidence that the platform is resolving an issue for native language-speaking customers not only in India but also internationally.
Koo reported earlier this month that the application's cumulative downloads had surpassed the 50 million (5 crore) milestone. The platform was introduced in early 2020 with the intention of competing with Twitter and other existing microblogging services.
Indians can express themselves online in their mother tongues thanks to this multilingual microblogging application. Koo is presently offered in ten different languages.
